There is currently no league competition due to a lack of players. If you are keen to play volleyball then please come along to casual volleyball or contact us.
The league is a round-robin competition where each team plays every other team one or more times, followed by a finals night. Players enter as a team at the start of the competition, and then play in those same teams throughout. This provides an opportunity for players to develop team dynamics. The emphasis is still on having fun, but of course we all want to win, too! Prizes are awarded to the winning teams.
A new league competiton, with
new teams, will normally commence a few weeks after finals night. Please see
below if you are interested in joining the next league.

Rules
Some league competitions may have a slightly different format and/or different rules. These changes will be detailed on the league draw and result pages.
Teams
Teams can have any number of players, although there must be at least 4 and no more than 6 players on the court at any time. Each player is only allowed to play for one team.
Each team will have a team captain who will be responsible for ensuring that their team turns up each week. If a team does not have at least 4 players for a game, they will forfeit that game - see the rules for more details. The team captain will be the primary contact for the team for communication from the club.
Depending on the number of teams and their abilities, there may be 'A' and 'B' divisions in the league, with one being stronger than the other.
To enter a team in the next league competition, simply email us or call Simon on (04) 298 3791. You can also enter in person at casual volleyball on a Tuesday night.
The entry fee per league competition (approx. 10 weeks) is $120.00 per team, regardless of the number of players in the team.
All entry fees are to be paid in full no later than round 2. Teams with any unpaid fees after round 2 will forfeit 1 point per round until the fees are paid in full.
All money raised by the club through fees is used for purchasing equipment, prizes, gym hire, administration costs, etc.
All sets are rally-point, up to 25 points, although each set must be won by at least 2 points.
The games are best of 3 sets, so the first team to win 2 sets is the winner of the game. Once the game has been won, if time remains then more sets can be played, but they are not counted towards the game result. Games are scheduled to take 1 hour but if a game has not been decided by the end of the hour, play will continue until the game is finished (i.e., there is no time limit).
Points are awarded as follows:
The winning team will therefore get 4 or 5 points, while the losing team will get up to 2 points.
Points may be deducted for unpaid fees - see above.
Teams are not required to wear a team uniform but will earn bonus points for doing so. A uniform consists of at least similar styled shirts of predominantly the same colour. For example, a team's uniform may be "blue t-shirts", in which case their t-shirts should be predominantly blue. Different shades of blue would be allowed. Shirts with logos and slogans, etc, are acceptable and they do not have to match.

These shirts can be purchased through the club for $40 each.
