Overview
Andrew Coyle specialises in developing the sophisticated optimisation models and tools needed to solve complex business and industry problems. He also builds the supporting computer systems required to run these models.
He has worked for some of the largest New Zealand and top Fortune 500 companies, and has worked across a wide range of industries including energy, telecommunications, local body, forestry, and warehousing.
Andrew has been instrumental in the development of many of Orbit Systems' intelligent trailer loading tools for companies such as Procter & Gamble and Nestlé. He has recently been developing a model for the electricity industry which examines the effect of environmental constraints on investment decisions, and previously worked on models for electricity scheduling, price forecasting, and competitive behaviour.
Background
Prior to forming Orbit Systems, Andrew worked as a consultant for PHB Hagler Bailly.
Andrew has a B.Sc. in Applied Statistics, a B.Comm in Information Systems, and a M.Sc. (1st class) in Operations Research, all from the University of Auckland.
In 1998, Andrew was awarded a Junior Practitioner Prize by the Operations Research Society of New Zealand.
